Primary Verses:
-
Deuteronomy 24:14-15
-
"Thou
shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and
needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy
strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:
At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall
the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his
heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto YHVH, and
it be sin unto thee."
Supporting Verses:
-
Jeremiah 22:13
-
Malachi 3:5
-
"And I will come near to you to
judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the
sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false
swearers, and against
those that oppress the hireling in his wages,
the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the
stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith YHVH of
hosts."
-
Colossians 4:1
-
James 5:1-7
-
"Go to now, ye rich men, weep
and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are
motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the
rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall
eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure
together for the last days.
Behold, the hire of the labourers who have
reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by
fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped
are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton;
ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of
slaughter. Ye have condemned and killed the just; and
he doth not resist you. Be patient therefore, brethren,
unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman
waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath
long patience for it, until he receive the early and
latter rain."
