Stoning is the usual and oridnary mode of death penalty in the
scripture. Prior to stoning, a trial must be held (Num.
35:30, Deut. 17:6, Deut. 19:15, Matt. 18:16, 2 Cor. 13:1).
This trial was before a judge from the levites (Deut. 17:9).
After a trial, if found guilty, a punishment was given (Lev.
4:13, 22, 27, Lev. 5:17, Lev. 6:4). This punishment was a
sin offering or trespass offering. If the crime committed
was deserving of death a sentence was stoning was given for the
following crimes.
Reasons for Stoning:

Adultery (Lev. 20:10).

Bestiality (Ex. 22:19).

Blaspheming God (Lev. 24:16).

False Prophet (Deut. 13:1-11).

Homosexuality (Lev. 20:13).
-
Idolatry (Lev. 20:2).

Juvenile Delinquency (Deut.
21:18-21).
-
Manstealing/Kidnapping (Ex. 21:16).
-
Misrepresenting yourself as virgin
in marriage (Deut. 22:13-30. Deut. 22:21).

Murder (Lev. 24:17-20).
-
Negligence causing death (Ex.
21:28-32).
-
Not heeding a judges sentence (Deut.
17:9-12).
-
Passing your seed to Molech (Lev.
20:2).
-
Perjury (Deut. 19:16-21).
-
Rape (Deut. 22:23-26).
-
Sabbath Breaking (Ex. 31:15, Num.
15:32-36).

Witchcraft (Lev. 20:27).
