Primary Verses:

  1. Leviticus 5:5-6

    • "And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing:  And he shall bring his trespass offering unto YHVH for his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin."

  2. Numbers 5:6-7

    • "Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against YHVH, and that person be guilty;  Then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed."

Supporting Verses:

  1. Joshua 7:19

    • "And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to YHVH God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me."

  2. Psalms 32:4-5

    • "For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.  I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto YHVH; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah."

  3. Psalms 51:2-4

    • "Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.  For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.  Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest."

  4. 1 John 1:8-10

    • "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."
